Battle of the Blue and Grey Saturday Night At Scenic Raceway

Oneida, TN (2004-08-19) It will be the North versus the South (or the East), during the first every Battle of the Blue and Grey this Saturday night at Scenic Raceway. This exciting night of racing will feature a 50-lap Late Model show paying $5000 to win and a Mini-Stock race paying $500 to win. Plus, you’ll witness racing in all other classes too, including Sportsman, Street and Road Hog.

The Battle of the Blue and Grey will be the third big event of the season at Scenic Raceway, East Tennessee’s premiere ½ mile clay oval. The line has been drawn and best drivers from Tennessee, Kentucky and the Carolinas are expected to compete in the night’s main event, the Mason Dixon 50. Last month, Border Wars 2004 produced a field of 34-competitors in the Late Model show, the biggest showing of the season. Mike Marlar (157) of Winfield, TN took home the prize money, also having won the first big event of the season, the Dirt Daddy 50. Rumors has it Marlar may not make the Battle of the Blue and Grey, meaning a first time winner will be crowned Saturday night.

In the Mini-Stock feature, drivers will be running 15-laps, competing for a $500 winning purse.

The Battle of the Blue and Grey will also feature racing in Scenic Raceway’s other classes: Sportsman, Street and Road Hog.

In addition to the racing action, Looney Ballooney and Friends, a clown act will entertain the crowd prior to the race. His show will start at 6:00 p.m.

Gates will open Saturday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. Racing will begin at 7:00 p.m. General grandstand admission for the Battle of the Blue and Grey will be $15 for adults, $10 for children 6-10 and children 5 and under free. Tier parking $20. Pit Passes, $30. Late Model competitors will be charged a $125 entry fee. Mini-Stock competitors will be assessed a $30 entry fee.
